Abstract
Also thanks to many new applications, the world of the Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) is constantly in evolution worldwide. This brings about a change also at the receiver point of view, being many new navigation signals under development or modernization. Within this scenario, the SWAN project (acronym from the Italian Sistemi softWare per Applicazioni di Navigazione, SoftWare systems for Navigation Applications), financed by the Italian Space Agency, aims at designing a GNSS multistandard receiver, based on the software defined radio (SDR) technology. Three are the final ‘products’ of the project: 1. the Base Model, the SDR multistandard receiver; 2. the Simulation Tool, able to perform the analysis of the navigation signal and to compare the performances of different modulations; 3. the Support Platform, to generate the input of the Base Model and test and validate it. The Monitoring and Analysis Tool, able to perform a real-time signal analysis, is one of its main components. Focus of this paper is the description of both the Simulation and Monitoring and Analysis Tools. Their main components are drawn, highlighting their potentialities and comparing the performances.
