Abstract
Experiment T2, carried out during Euromir95 mission, was aimed at testing innovative methods for microbial contamination monitoring. A new standard sampling technique (based on nitro-cellulose membrane filters) was used, to permit samples being analysed by different means. Downloaded dry samples are being analysed by PCR (polymerase chain reaction), whilst microbial contamination analyses were performed on-board, by two methods, tested in parallel: Bioluminescence (quantitative - threshold method), and Miniculture (qualitative and quantitative method).
